  The Equator Route 9 days / 8 nights
    EUA901 September-February
      Day 1 Sat Fly into Quito. Your hotel is a converted mansion.
      Day 2 Sun Mountain bike Cotopaxi. Ride down off the world’s highest active volcano from 4500m to 3200m (15000ft to 10600ft). Overnight near Riobamba in a country inn.
      Day 3 Mon Mountain bike Chimborazo. Whiz down off Ecuador’s highest mountain, across high altitude grasslands and past vicuñas (5000-2800m, 16700-9400ft). Overnight in a hosteria overlooking Baños.
      Day 4 Tue Mountain bike Baños-Puyo. A cliff-hugging descent of the Avenue of the Orchids from the highlands to the jungle (1820-600m, 6010-1980ft). Overnight Tena in a riverside hotel.
      Day 5 Wed Raft Jatunyacu river. A 25km (15mile) whitewater roller coaster ride through lush jungle that’s home to the indigenous Kichwa. Overnight Tena in a riverside hotel.
      Day 6 Thu Raft Upper Quijos river. Raft mile after mile of class IV-IV+ whitewater through basalt gorges and high jungle. Overnight El Chaco in a hotel overlooking the Quijos valley.
      Day 7 Fri Raft Lower Quijos river. Paddle the big, technical rapids of the lower canyons down to the calmer reaches that host cormorants, egrets and striated herons. Overnight Papallacta at a hot springs resort.
      Day 8 Sat Visit Otavalo – South America’s biggest and most colorful handicrafts market. Overnight Quito in a converted mansion.
      Day 9 Sun Fly home or extend your Uncommon Adventure with a trip deep into the Amazon jungle or a naturalist cruise in the extraordinary Galapagos islands.
           
    EUA902 March-August
      Day 1 Sat Fly into Quito. Your hotel is a converted mansion.
      Day 2 Sun Mountain bike Tandayapa. Ride down through cloud forest renowned for it’s biodiversity and bird life (3000-1800m, 10000-6000ft). Overnight in a lodge on a private cloud forest reserve near Mindo.
      Day 3 Mon Raft Upper Blanco or Toachi rivers. Shoot the rapids through tropical rainforest at the foot of the Andes. Overnight in a garden-set hotel near the river.
      Day 4 Tue Raft Lower Blanco river. Head back to the river for more whitewater action but also have the chance to catch your breath and take in the splendor of the surroundings. Overnight near Cotopaxi in a centuries-old hacienda.
      Day 5 Wed Mountain bike Cotopaxi. Ride down off the world’s highest active volcano from 4500m to 3200m (15000ft to 10600ft). Overnight in a hosteria overlooking Baños.

      Day 3 Tue Mountain bike Papallacta. Ride down from the paramo (high country) to low montane cloud forest at the edge of the Amazon basin (13900-8300ft). Overnight Papallacta at a hot springs resort.
      Day 4 Wed Hike Papallacta. Explore the high country of the upper Papallacta valley with views on a clear day to the spectacular Antisana volcano. Overnight Papallacta at a hot springs resort.
      Day 5 Thu Raft Upper Quijos river. Raft mile after mile of class IV-IV+ whitewater through basalt gorges and high jungle. Overnight El Chaco in a hotel overlooking the Quijos valley.

      Day 3 Raft Upper Blanco river. With 45km (27 miles) of continuous whitewater this is probably the world’s longest one day raft trip.
